Second sealed bid sale of private number plates
Following the success of the very first ever sealed bid sale of private number plates in 2008, the DVLA has repeated the exercise and the second such sale is underway right now.
There are 1074 registration number available in the sale, prospective buyers need to register on the agency's website and then place a bid on any of the numbers which interest the.
Bids can be modified up or down at a later date but it is not possible to see how much others are bidding, so it is important to pitch the bid at the highest amount you think is reasonable for that registration number.
The sale ends on the 27th of February when all the bids will be taken and the winning bidders will be informed of their success.
Many of the registrations on offer are the result of requests made by members of the public so are likely to be of interest to only themselves, however there are also other general interest attractive number plates.
