The third sealed bid sale of personalised number plates is currently in progress on the DVLA\\\'s website. There are one thousand hand picked registration numbers on offer , all with reserve prices, below which they will not be sold. Potential bidders must register first on the website before making their fixed bid. Unlike normal auctions bidders have no idea what others might be bidding so it is important they get their bid right. Many of the registrations are included in the sale at the request of members of the motoring public and as such will probably mean little to anyone but them. There are however a good number that are just known popular combinations of letters such as ASH 10S. These numbers will be bid on not only by genuine bidders but also speculators, many of them reappearing on the market at a much higher price. Other possible bargains available in the sale are DCP 3B, DRU 3E, FLY 6E, LYN 58R, and MJB 1C to list just a few. The sale ends on the 10th July 2009 when all bidders will be informed whether they have been successful or not. This is only the third fixed bid sale ever held by the agency, they do however hold a regular series of normal auction throughout the year at various venues around the country.
